Unpluq is an app and physical product that helps people use their smartphones more consciously. Less mindless scrolling, more presence in daily life.
I co-founded Unpluq in 2019 together with Jorn Rigter and worked on it until early 2024. From the very beginning, design was at the core. Not just how things look, but how they feel, and how they subtly shape behavior.
My role focused on translating an abstract idea
more attention, less distraction
into a tangible, intuitive, and human-centered product.
My role at Unpluq included:
Concept development from idea to market-ready product
Full responsibility for product design and UI/UX across all three Unpluq apps
Designing and refining user flows, interactions, and behavioral mechanics
Conducting extensive user research, including hundreds of customer interviews
Iterative testing and optimization of the app based on real user insights
Creating the visual identity, branding, and website
Designing and building the e-commerce webshop
Designing, setting up, and managing the production and supply chain of the Unpluq Tag

What made this project especially meaningful to me is that design was not just aesthetic or functional, but intentional and behavioral. Every design decision came back to one central question: Does this help people use their phone more consciously?
Unpluq deeply shaped my view on design. Good design doesn’t just solve problems, it invites new behavior and a healthier relationship with technology.
